GivingChase, SensesFail, and BrandNew 6-25-03 Crowbar Well, it was supposed to be BreakingPangaea, BeautifulMistake, SensesFail, and BrandNew. But the night before the show, i found it it changed. I was looking forward to seeing breaking pangaea, i only heard a little bit of there stuff, but i like. I forget most of the show, giving chase was good as aways. they added another guitarest since last time i seen them. and mike just sang, didnt play guitar. Senses Fail was good aswell, i only ever heard one of there songs, and i didnt know it was there song untill they played it. BrandNew came on. they played old stuff and new stuff. it was great. i was the first on to crowsurf when they played, and first to be on stage :) . And i jumped on a friends head, sorry. There was lots of movement. Lots of people didnt think they new stuff was as good as the old stuff. but i thought it was all good. Greene decided to jump off of the one rain, which was awesome. blah blah blah, this is the end of this one.....
Strong Intentions, 5-?-03, Lock Haven YMCA Not a whole lot to say about this show. Other bands were supposed to play, but they didnt show up. and it started late. It was the first time i every heard of a thrash band coming to lock haven. there songs were short and fast. not a whole lot of people were there, but there were pits. these shows will be alot of fun if more people show up. thanx to john and clint for making these shows happen.
Finch, Snapcase, Days Away, 5-5-03 Crowbar We went up at like 6 o'clock not even knowing if we were gonna get in. we all heard that it was sold out. but we decided to go up anyways. and we got in. so dont use the excuse "i thought it was sold out" for not being at a show, ha. alot of fun stuff can happen while standing in line for 2hrs. ha. anyways, i didnt like days away. and either did the people i was with. seen some people that i havnt seen in awhile up there as well, and they were there for snapcase, the same reason i was. snapcase was on 2nd. i thught they did good. i dont like there new stuff though. and they played alot of that. they played songs from there Progression Through Violence CD, and people moved to that stuff. the pits to Caboose and Zombie perscription were insane. Finch played last. they were really good aswell. i think i enjoyed them more than snapcase.
The Starting Line, Hidden In Plain View, MAE, theCommercials 4-28-03 Crowbar Another show i went to by myself. but i guess its kinda a good thing i did. I was walking to the crowbar, and the starting line was walking up through town, and kenny was like "30 day warrenty(my shirt), were friends with those guys, good band." and i was like "theStarting Line, great band". then i was infront of the crowbar, and this guy was like, "you going into the show?" and i was like "yah", and he was like, "you wanna get in for free? i got a guess pass plus one" so i said "sure". and so i got in for free. i didnt see the commercials, and didnt really want to 'cause i seen them just a few days earlyer. i got there when MAE was setting up. they were alright, i guess. Hidden In Plain View was great. i like there style. and last was the starting line. there a great band. i think there better live, but most bands are. i wasnt even sure if i wanted to see them. but im glad i did. people were moshing and crowd surfing, by listening to them, i didnt think people would be doing that.
Thursday, OneLineDrawing, Every Time I Die, and Cardia 4-23-03 Crowbar Well, i planed on going to this show. But then i decided not to. And then i was bored this night, so i decided to go up and check out Every Time I Die. I got there right before ETID started to play. So i guess it was pretty good timing. They were great. They put on a very good show. Lots of movement and rough pits. After ETID got done playing, i came home.
Giving Chase, The Curse, The Casualties, and Avail 1-16-03 State College, VFW First show of the new year. and it was a good one. I seen alot of people that i havnt seen inawhile there. there were also people there from outside of central pa. People even came from differnt states. Giving Chase opened up, im liking there new sound. Someone was like "I think there playing faster tonight..." so i guess that means its just not me that thinks that they sound different. The Curse came on second. They were good aswell. i never listend to them that much, but i like what i heard. The Casualties played 3rd. I think they were great. i just lover there style of music. its great. Avail played last, or 4th, whatever you wanna think of it as. They put on a good show as well. This band was the reason i went to the show. The cheerleader dude was great. i dont know his name, but he just ran around on stage and did a little bit of backup vocals. The singer was on a corded mic, and he was down in the pit area. I found that interesting, being in a pit, with a mic, with a cord, seems kind of odd. It was nice to go to a show where i got to see and hear "good" punk rock bands. People got into the music and didnt just stand around, and thats always good. I met some cool people from different places, somehow i seem to do that. It snowed that night and had to drive home, and almost wrecked 50 times, but its was all good. The drunk lady(or whatever she was on) was realllllly funny as well. she got up on stage once and was all like "You dont need college, you can be freeee". then some dude was like, "shut up drunken slut!" the end.
Giving Chase, NoOn15, and The Misfits 10-29-02 Crowbar
it was like the 5th time i seen giving chase and no on 15. and they kicked ass as usual. I only heard one song that giving chase played at other shows, all the newer ones kicked ass, to me, they sounded different than the last time i seen them. Faster and more screaming. NoOn15 played a few songs that i havnt heard before, and they were great also. Misfits were just awesome! Well, it was Jerry Only from the misfits singing and playing bass, Dez from black flag on guitar, and marky ramone from the world famouse ramones on drums. They played there set pretty much straight through. with a little talking inbetween some songs. They played songs from all the bands that were on stage that night. I got some good pictures from that show. look on my live pix page. Misfits have been making music for 25years, and jerry only said that they would try to make another 25years. Between the 3 people on stage, they had over 100years of music, and over 1000 songs. atleast i think thats what he said, if you were there, and im wrong, let me know. Even know i pretty much only to see the misfits, it was kickass. It was one of the best shows that ive been to.
Fairweather, The Movie Life, and BrandNew 10-23-02 Crowbar
Fairweather played first. They were great. I never seen pictures of the band before, just listened to them. and when Jay came on stage, i was surprised. i pictured him as looking alot different. They put on a great set. BrandNew came up next. they were awesome. If you listened to them, there not the all moshi moshi type of music. but great music writing and vocals. Jesse had some guitar troubles, so he had to bust out some duct tape. The movie life played last, i liked them alot. They were great on stage as well, damn, all 3 bands kicked ass that night. People got into them and then some pits broke out. i think that everyone should go see all 3 of these bands play. the movie life said they will be back in the spring. so i urge you all to go and see them! kelly bought me my ticket, i guess it was because it was my birthday. that was the best birthday ever. thanx kelllllly
One Line Drawing 10-22-02 Project Coffee House
Jonah's amazing, and thats all i have to say
Rise Above Brutality Tour
ShadowFall, DeathThreat, Six Feet Under, and Hatebreed 9-25-02 Crowbar
After standing in line for about an hour and a half, we get in side and find out we missed Death Threats complete set, and got to see Shadows Fall play there last 3 or 4 songs. They sounded really good, never heard of them before and i like what i heard. Next up was Six Feet Under. Chris Barnes is an amazing singer. The deep growls to high pitch screams were just amazing. Everyone was into the music and the place was going off. Then came Hatebreed!!! They kicked ass like usual. There amazing live, i suggest if you in "the hardcore scene" you go check them out. Jayme said that if people keep turning out like they do to see them at the Crowbar, that will be a stop on all there tours. This was also the first sold out Hatebreed show at the Crowbar. Like always, there were some hardcore moshpits and clap dancing. People were stage diving and crowd surfing as well. I was upfronte most of the time, right upfronte, 2nd person from the railing, Kenny was infronte of me, and he's shorter then me, so it was like being right up fronte. i was only in the pit like 3times... thats it. I guess its cool when people touch the bands, so i will say i touched Jayme's hand 3 or 4 times. and pounded fists with him. Got to sing in the mic. the Jayme practually put the mic in my face and my lips touched his hand (haha). All of that stuff was great, but i think the best part was when Jayme talked about Hack and dedicating Last Breath to him. That shows that Hatebreed cares about there fans. They alos played Under The Knife, one fo there first songs that is years old. Towards the end my friend got up on stage to crowsurf, and the one security guard grapped him and then the kid i know pushed away from him, and then i seen him with cuffs on at the end of the show... Now how wrong is that? thats the stuff your supposed to do at Hardcore Shows. After the serurity guard did that, i guess the guitar player kicked the security guard, and i seen the bass player bitching at the security guard for doing what he did. It was one good night. Dispite the security people being real assholes, and KKKs vehicle gettin towed... Didnt talk to anyone in any of the bands this time, but most likely could of if we stuck around longer.
Warped Tour 8-11-02 Asbury Park, NJ
Alkaline Trio, Good Charlotte, Lagwagon, M. M. Bosstones, New Found Glory, No Use For A Name, The Damned, Thursday, NOFX, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Guttermouth, MXPX, Ozma Reel Big Fish, Something Corporate, 28 Days, Borialis, Five Iron Frenzy, Reach The Sky, Recover, 3rd Strike, The Casulaties, Total Chaos, Vendetta Red, the Line, Arkham, Pepper, Wanted Dead, Planet Smashers, Simple Plan, Small Brown Bike, Deviates, Death By Stereo, Home Grown, RX Bandits, Finch, The Starting Line, The Movielife, Allister, Showoff, American Hi-Fi, District 7, Hope The Aeffect, Don't Look Down, Nora, Prevent Falls, Staring Back, Tantor, BigWig, Antifreeze, Useless ID, Preston, Flashing Light, LoBall, & The Eyeliners played, and probelly more. So many bands, so i will just say stuff about a few. 3rd Stike was really good. I seen MxPx, then No Use For A Name, and then Bad Religion, and then Alkaline Trio, and then New Found Glory, and then NoFx all in a row. NFG is crazy live, well the crowd is. um... thats enuff. i dont think it was worth the trip, the bands only played for a half hour each. but it was worth the ticket.
Hatebreed, Chimara, Skinless, and Final Stand 5-21-02 Crowbar
Final Stand played first, they were really good. all the clap dancers from clearfield came with them, so that kinda sucked. Skinless played next, before they started, sherwood went up to the bar and drank a pitcher of beer in like 1min. then he jumped off the deck into the crowd. also known as a stage dive, but it wasnt from the stage. They played an amazing set. The crowd really got into it. Some pretty ruff pits. Drunks came down into the pit and tried starting fights and trying to hurt other people which is not cool. Next Chimara played, they played a great set also. Crowd was involved alot also. Ruff pits also. After Chimara played, me 'n some people went and stood out fronte, then 5 people walked inftonte of us and one said "whats up guys". And then we realized it was Jamey and the rest of Hatebreed. So we fallowed them in. There set was fucking amazing. The crowd was into it the whole time they played. Non-stop moshing. Yes, also ruff. I got on stage when they were playing. and then i stage dove. it was awesome. People were crowd surfing and moshing throughout the whole show. I got Matts drum stick, jameys autograph, and talked to other members of the band. I also got sherwood's (singer for skinless) autograph and talked to him. It was an amazing night. If you wernt there, you dont know how much fun i had. And then when i wokeup i found out about Tiff, and then at skool i found out about Hack. Hack died in a car crash comming home from the show. The last time i seen him was in the show. Tiff died in another car accident. The last time i seen her was leaving school on thursday, about 6hrs. before she died. These were 2 great people. There time came way too soon. Keep them in your hearts, if you knew them, you would know that they were loved by everyone had had very few enemies if any...
Movin On 2002 4-13 HubLawn
We got there as NoOn15was playing. And they always put on a kickass show. Then some rap people got on stage and they REALLY sucked. I dont like rap, but they were the worst i've heard, besides Nelly. So we went to play in the mud! Mud is fun. That lasted for awhile. Then OnTheBrink played. They are really good. There was like a 30Ft. cicle cleared for all the moshers, which were covered in mud. It was fuckin great! It's amazing how much people get pissed off and how they will move just because your a little dirty. After that band was done, we went back to the mud and had fun fun fun. J.E.W. really sucked, at least i think so.
OVERALL- The best night of my life :-) well, not the best, but deffently the most fun i've had at a show/concert. Met some people, like always. And became a mud person for the first time. When i got home it took a half hour in the shower to get clean. and about an hour spraying allthe mudd off my clothes with the hose. I guess, to understand how much fun and how great it was, you had to be there!
Hoobastank 'N 311. 3-25-02 LHU
I think hoobastank really sucked. Noone was moving untill they played "crawling in the dark". And then there was a pit, and that was the only pit during them, so thats all i gotta say about them. When 311 came on, they opened up with "down" which is my favorite 311 song. Right away people started moving. The pits erupted and elbows started to be thrown. but there was no "clap dancers" so that was good. I didnt think the pits for 311 would be as violent as they were. AND IT'S NOT COOL TO PUSH PEOPLE INTO THE PITS. The crowd surfing was cool as well. i went up 3 times and actually made it pretty far. The 1st time like 4chix started bitching at me, the 2nd time was all good. and the 3rd time i almost got my ass kicked by some dude. i fell on my head, stood up, and then seen a fist swing about 5 inches from my face. so i kinda left that area. i hate when people go to a punk show and then they all flip out because people are moshing. i would think that you would expect it. and its showing no respect to the bands when your just standing around. 311 put on a great show. good crowd communication and stage presence. i met some cool people, which other's call "weird". But its all good. Im sorry if i hurt you in the pit. but " if your going to enter the pit, you should know you can get hurt." and it's all about moshing, not worrying about who your hitting or not hitting. And at the end, there was a HUGE PIT, which was supposed to be a CIRCLE PIT, but eneded up as one big violent pit. and i lost my shoe, and i didnt wanna get my foot stepped on, so i went and talked with my dear friends...
OVERALL- a very good show, alot of friends, alot of pot, and some otha cool stuff...
The Nightmare Scenario, The Draftes, the Plague, Ivan and the Reds, Long Standing, and Exit25. 2-23-02 @ backalley bassment
We got there kinda late, we walk in and it reminds me of the Coffee House and its in the basement of a church. Nothing like PunkRock and moshin in a church=). i have no idea what bands were what. we got there to see the ending of the first band, they wernt really great. Then came the Nightmare Scenario! they put on a badass show! When they first started the drummer set his cymbols on fire, it was cool. they played all there songs off of there "halfway somewhere" cd, and a few off of there up comming cd. They were very energenic. i suggest anyone to go and see this band and you will be pleased. At first the drummer set his cymbols on fire, it was badass. There were some otha good bands that played, but i forget their names. The plague were really awesome also! You should go see them as well. We stayed untill the last band played, watched to songs and left.
Caroline's Spine and Emily's Toybox 12-3 @ TheCrowbar (State College) Well, some other band played also, but i forget the name. they sucked more than caroline's spine. and caroline's spine just plan sucked. Emily's Toybox kicked ass! I didnt really listin to them before i went, i just heard some songs and i liked them so i went. Seeing them live was awsome. they might of been the best band i seen live except for Slipknot. They were funny as shit also. This was the first time i went to the CrowBar in StateCollege, 'n it was fun. I think that you should see them live, its just awsome. you'll probelly enjoy even if you dont like there music.
Pledge Of Allegiance 11-02-01 @ the Bryce Jorden Center (PSU) This tour went through alot of diffulcty, with bands canseling and redatings. When i was there, NoOne, System Of A Down, and Slipknot played. Mudvayne and Rammstein had dropped out. I was on the floor, and was up close watching the bands. I was about 3 people away from the the rail, which was all the closer you could get. I could see the pupel's of the bands eyes, so thats close. I moshed and crowd surfed. It sux when you go up to crowd surf and noone catches you and u fall about 6ft. onto the ground on your head and sholder. NoOne was good. They got respect from me. I didnt think that they were that good, but seeing them changed my mind. They put on a great opening act. S.O.A.D. was good also. I dont really listin to them, but they got me moving around. They put on a great stage show also. After there set, the slipknot banner came down, which was fukin huge. Then the curtin dropped, and they opened up with People=Shit, which is probelly my favorite song. As soon as they started to play, the pits began, and i went up to crowd surf, but noone caught me, so i fell and got hurt, but that didnt stop me haha. All there songs were very good. It was the most insane thing ive ever seen. i wish i would of watched them play more than went to mosh. But the music made me. The pits were HUGE! They had a kickass set. they were the "headliners", so there stage props were badass. Joey(the drummer) did this kickass drum solo where his drumset raised, then moved forward so he was playing facing the ground, then started to rotate. it was awsome. and it still sounded really good even know he was playin in unusal ways. The part that was the most crazy was when corey(the singer) said everyone get down on one knee, and everyone did, then he said get up when i say "jump the fuk up". As soon as he said that in the song, everyone did it and it just turned into total chaos and insanity. It was like a leap to heaven, then realizing you were in hell with everyone moshing. Corey said something that people should know, and it goes something like this, Hate crimes have gone up 65percent in the past few years, and that fukin unacceptable. we gotta start hurting the enemy and stop punishing our own fuking american!, and thats the way everyone should feel. Slipknot had pyros, lights, huge flags, pentagrams, 666 lights, snow type machines, and alot more. My friend got backstage passes, which is just totally awsome. OVERALL- This was the best nite i ever had, my dream came true. Got a little bit hurt, but i think everyone did. It felt like on big family being there to see slipknot. Meat some cool people, and seen some funny looking people. and some HUGE men that were short as hell. they were built like tanks. they were in the army or something like that. Got to hangout with some of my friends while watching our favorite band, it dosnt get much better than that. i wish i would of watched more of slipknot's set. but the music was just too intenses for me to stand there.
